Description

As sustainable packaging commitments and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies ramp up, it is crucial that packaging manufacturers have access to enough recycled feedstock to meet their needs. Industry collaborations involving EverestLabs, the Can Manufacturers Institute, Caglia Environmental (Caglia), and LRS are playing a pivotal role in ensuring the supply of aluminum, one of the most valuable recyclable materials, by increasing recovery rates at MRFs. The Can Manufacturers Institute has supported the deployment of EverestLabs' AI sorting robots at LRS and Caglia recycling centers, significantly boosting aluminum can recovery. These advanced robotics are recovering over 1 million beverage cans annually at LRS and more than 1,500 cans daily at Caglia. In this session, we will delve into the details of this partnership, the factors contributing to its success, the positive outcomes it has on the economy and environment, and the steps planned for the future.
